Last Friday I played in the final of An Bonn Óir, which is a competition run every 4 years for Irish traditional harp and pipes. The competition is organised by Peadar Ó Riada in honour of his late father, Seán Ó Riada (pretty much Ireland’s national composer). I’m a huge fan of Peadar Ó Riada, Seán Ó Riada, and the competition judge Laoise Kelly, so I was gobsmacked when they announced me as the winner… nearly fell off me chair!! I’m dancing a jig on the inside ever since!! It was a really interesting and fruitful process preparing for this competition… I intend to write more on that at a later date. In the interim, you may enjoy this video of one of my competition sets…!
